When I say succeeding in social promotion, I mean making money by selling a product or service through marketing on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and StumbleUpon.

These are the big three for me, and I include StumbleUpon as a social networking site, even though some would call it a social bookmarking site.

In order to have any success, you need to have a product that appeals to a large amount of people, a website that showcases it in an appealing way, and a good amount of knowledge on all forms of traffic building, particularly targeted traffic.

This page is specifically about social promotion, so without further ado, I’ll tell you what I know about the subject.

A great little piece of art I did on my computer, it doesn't really have anything to do with the subject of social promotion, and succeeding at it.

Facebook

Many people go on about how much potential Facebook has for generating traffic, but my attempts at social promotion on Facebook have been limited.

I have made quite a few Facebook pages, found thousands of friends, tried making groups, etc, but nothing really seemed to work very well except using Facebook Ads.

Facebook pages can work well, in a Facebook search and a Google search, especially if you get enough likes that you can create a custom URL, but they are basically just like a website, without the same amount of options.

I generally just post in my Facebook news feed, add a couple of friends a day, and try not to annoy people too much by tagging them in a photo, adding them to a group, or inviting them to an event, that they could care less about.

I use Facebook more for talking to people, rather than marketing to people, but at the same time, I wouldn’t have thousands of friends if I didn’t want to promote something.

You don’t want to appear like a spammer on Facebook, it gives your website less credibility, and could get you banned, so try to get the targeting options right in a Facebook Ads campaign.

Anyone can tweet a link, or post on Facebook, but it takes a good amount of knowledge and hard work to really get somewhere in the social sites.

Twitter

I really like Twitter for social promotion of a page, because people never get annoyed at you, at worst, they unfollow you. The difference is, people can choose to look at their home page, which is changing all the time with new tweets, and if they see something that appeals to them, they might click on the link.

I get my followers from Twiends, which is a site that makes it easy to get lots of followers, by either following people, watching You Tube videos, or paying for seeds.

If you aren’t paying for seeds, it can take a lot of time to build up a good followers list, (and by that I mean tens of thousands of people), because you end up following more people than are following you, which hits a brick wall when you get to be following 2,000 people, as you can only follow 10% more people than are following you.

I have signed up for a subscription to seeds, which costs $10 a week, and I also spend all day looking for people offering large amounts of seeds for a follow, or You Tube view.

Why do I spend so many hours doing this? Because I realize that each person who follows me, and stays following, clicking on the occasional link I tweet, is worth potentially hundreds of dollars over a period of years.

I’m not saying that every follower I get is like that, but there’s enough traffic coming in, that I can see a good percentage of them are like that.

Here at Professional Social Promotion, we sell scheduled tweets to our main account, and have a huge followers list, which is growing at an alarming rate.

Check out the home page for details on the pricing, and what you get for it, basically the longer you stay, (or the sooner you sign up), the better value you get.

The key to success in social marketing is learning how to engage people in the right way on social networking sites.

StumbleUpon

Some people call this a social bookmarking site, because it is more about sharing links than talking to people, but whatever you call it, it works really well if you’re a very active member of the site.

In order to succeed in social promotion on StumbleUpon, you need to follow people who seem to be following a fair amount of people themselves, check to see that they are following back, and accepting shares to their toolbar, then you have to accept shares yourself, and vote them up, every day, from the numbers on your toolbar.

There is no real way to cheat on this site, but those who are successful at it put in the work, liking shares they receive, because otherwise, you don’t get the same in return, and those people who could have helped you will unfollow.

If you have the time to spare, you can follow me on StumbleUpon, I’m rowanman28. I vote up all shares, so long as the favor is returned, and I’ll soon see if it isn’t.

The most popular categories are bizarre/oddities, recipes, and music, as far as I can remember. I hope that this page has given you some good tips on succeeding in social promotion, but believe me, it takes a lot of time, so why not get our help, by going to the home page.
