Social Marketing Theory and Practice

This post will attempt to explain social marketing in theory, and in practice. I will teach you how to get thousands, or even millions of views to your website through social promotion on sites like Facebook and Twitter.

First, you will need to build a social list of friends and followers, or get access to one. You can do this by going to a site like Twiends, and sign in with your Twitter account, and you can get followers on Twitter for free, or pay for seeds, which you can offer for people to follow you.

Facebook friends are reasonably valuable, if you have a lot of them, although it takes a lot longer to get them, as you can’t just spam out friend requests on one account. You should probably only send out about ten friend requests a day there, and to people that are targeted to your niche.

For example, you could find people who mention those keywords, or who like a Facebook page, or are in a group related to the subject your site is about.

This post explains the theory behind social marketing, and how to do it effectively.

Social Marketing Theory in Practice

In practice, it takes a really long time to build up an impressive list of social followers by yourself, and I’ve been doing it for two years, and I still don’t feel like I’ve got enough yet.

There are people in countries like India who do this all day long, and there are sites where you can get people to tweet your site for a few cents per tweet, or Facebook share, or as little as one cent per click on a link.

I can work as a middleman to get you the best price for social marketing to literally millions of potential customers, or I can just do a quick share to my large list of social connections.

Social marketing theory may tell you to get your own social friends and followers, targeted to your niche, and then perhaps convert them into email subscribers, but in practice, it’s faster and better to pay someone else to do it.

Social Marketing Expert

Am I a social marketing expert? Yes, I like to think that I am. I know of a dozen sites where I can get cheap clicks for as low as one cent from Twitter, StumbleUpon, You Tube, and even Facebook.

I’m not going to give you a list of all of the sites where I could get you these cheap clicks, because that’s what my business is.

Let me set up an advertising or rather a social marketing and promotion campaign for you, and I’ll show you how you can get reasonably targeted traffic for ten times less than the traditional advertising campaigns on Google Adwords and Facebook Ads.

Some people say that social promotion isn’t very targeted, because the people who click on your Twitter message weren’t actually looking for that product in the first place, but then neither are the people who click on an ad on Facebook.

If somebody out of a hundred thousand people sees your message, and finds it interesting enough to click on, I would say that’s pretty targeted traffic, at a much lower price than the normal going rate for advertising.

How did I become an expert at social marketing? From writing many articles and blogs over many years.

How Did I Become a Social Marketing Expert?

I started off writing articles on sites like Factoidz and HubPages, and blogging and then I built my own site, and developed a product, and along the way, I was constantly building my social following on Facebook, Twitter, and StumbleUpon, to name just a few.

Now I have access to cheap traffic, and can offer to set you up with a social marketing campaign that not only comes from my own social followers, but from hundreds or thousands of other people’s accounts.

I’ll give you one example of what I mean. Sponsored Tweets is a site where you can set a price you are willing to pay for a click on a Twitter message you give people to tweet to their followers.

It can be as low as one cent, and it gets results. Apart from the traffic from Twitter itself, the social signals it sends to Google that hundreds of people are tweeting your site can put you on the first page of the SERPs easily.

So there you have it, I’m a social marketing expert, and you can contact me to talk about setting up a social promotion campaign for your site at rowan@professionalsocialpromotion.com.

Here is some expert advice on social marketing: let me market your site for you, because I am an expert, and I know what I'm doing better than you do.

Social Promotion Pros and Cons

The Pros and Cons of Social Promotion

What are the pros and cons of social promotion, and why do people spend so much time and money getting Twitter followers, Facebook page likes, and You Tube views?

I will explain in this post exactly what the benefits and drawbacks are of going down the path of social promotion as opposed to the traditional route of trying to get on the first page of a popular Google search.

The Pros of Social Promotion

The main benefit of having a large list of social friends and followers is that nobody can take them away from you unless you do something really stupid, and get your account suspended.

There is risk in everything, and you may not want to put your main Facebook account at risk by doing anything too spammy and commercial.

On Twitter, spam is just the normal thing to do, as there are whole groups of people who only follow each other in order to get a follow back, and it’s lucky if a lot of them even look at their Twitter feed, but some do.

The basic benefit is you build a large list of followers on different sites, and then you can get traffic in an instant, whenever you want, without having to wait for Google to index it, or trying to get the search engine optimization right.

It’s one step away from having an email list of subscribers, and in my opinion, that’s what you should be trying to do with your list of social followers, convert them into email subscribers.

This way, you can send out almost anything, and so long as you have built trust, and you don’t annoy people with spam, you can get automatic traffic, and even sales of a product or service.

The way to get someone to opt-in to your auto-responder is by offering huge value, for example, if you sign up to my list you get a free internet marketing training course of e-books, videos, and links to free helpful resources.

The Cons of Social Promotion

The negative side of social promotion as opposed to getting on the first page of many different Google searches is that while you are guaranteed of a slow increase in traffic if you have more people to send your link to, it may not be as fast a rise as you would get if you conquered Google.

There is a good reason why some SEO experts earn thousands of dollars per job, and that is because if you can get on the first page of a really popular Google search, you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, if it’s a buyer keyword, on a product with a good profit margin.

Let’s say for example you were on the first page of a Google search on how to lose weight. There is no doubt that you would be making money even if your product was sugarless chewing gum for a thousand dollars a box.

The main reason why people don’t go to the lengths required to compete for keywords with a high search volume is it’s just too hard.

What is Social Marketing?

Social Marketing

What is social marketing? If you weren’t reading this on a computer, then it might mean marketing to your friends, or social connections, but online, social marketing means selling a product via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Some of the other sites included in the definition of social marketing might include: StumbleUpon, You Tube, Linked In, MySpace, Digg, and many others, although some of these are also called social bookmarking sites.

The reason why people want to reach customers on social sites is to appear more user friendly, as when people are in a place where they feel comfortable talking to their friends, they may maintain the same feeling of trust when looking at a site shared by a friend, or in an ad that appears next to their news feed.

What exactly is social marketing, and how does it work? This site will teach you all about that.

How Does Social Marketing Work?

It’s relatively simple, you either need lots of friends and followers on sites like Facebook and Twitter, or you need to pay for the right to have access to those people while they are doing their social networking.

Facebook Ads is pretty expensive, and Twitter doesn’t even have an advertising space available next to the feed, so you either need to learn how to get access to thousands of people by making friends with them, or you need to pay for social marketing.

Here at Professional Social Promotion, we offer a range of affordable social promotion solutions. We can get you Facebook page likes, set up scheduled tweeting to our thousands of followers, make a You Tube video and promote it, or provide help with setting up an advertising campaign.

All of these services are available on the home page, but before you order something, you should probably get in contact with me first, to talk about your site, and the best social marketing strategy for it.

If you don’t have the money to pay for social marketing, then you can learn how to do it yourself, by signing up to the newsletter, where you get sent out a comprehensive free internet marketing training course.

This is the question, what the hell is it, and why are so many people going on about social marketing all the time?
